"Israel" has banned international journalists from covering the situation at the Haifa oil refinery after it was struck by Iranian missiles on Monday.

Iran had asserted that its missiles accurately targeted the oil complex. However, "Israel" refrained from admitting the success of the operation until reports and documentation showed the destruction inflicted on the structure.

Operation True Promise 3: Iranian missiles rain over Tel Aviv, Haifa

On Monday, the Israeli military censorship allowed the release of information regarding the operation, while Israeli media reported that three settlers died at the oil refinery during the missile strike.

The Bazan Petroleum Company had previously reported to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that Iranian missiles overnight had inflicted localized damage to pipelines and transmission lines at its Haifa Bay complex.

Why is the Haifa oil refinery important?

Located in northern Israeli-occupied Palestine, the Haifa refinery sits along one of the most industrialized seaports, handling the imports and exports of crude oil and petroleum products.

As part of the largest petrochemical complex in “Israel", it produces various types of fuel, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and liquefied gas, fueling a significant portion of the occupation's energy and transportation needs.

The Haifa oil refinery is a vital pillar of “Israel’s” economy, where any disruption could trigger an internal energy crisis, particularly across aviation, industry, and transportation.

Striking this oil refinery or even threatening to do so would hit more than "Israel's" critical infrastructure, as it would shake morale and exert direct pressure on Israeli leadership in times of war.
