The US was the one who sent messages to Iran calling for an end to the war, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh revealed in an interview for Al Mayadeen on Tuesday, while also warning that any attack on the country would be met with a decisive response.

Khatibzadeh emphasized that it was the United States that sent messages to Iran requesting a ceasefire, highlighting that his country had launched an attack on a US base in the region.

Iran will respond to any aggression: Saeed Khatibzadeh

Regarding the Israeli aggression, Saeed Khatibzadeh affirmed that Iran remains steadfast in its resistance, stating that "the Israeli entity has been dealt a heavy blow."

He emphasized that "resilient Tehran stood firm against the Israeli assault and held its ground," while directly addressing Israeli settlers, urging them to recognize that they are "victims of the strategic miscalculations" of occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The deputy FM warned that any attack against Iran would be met with retaliation, stating, "We are prepared to respond to any aggression," knowing that the ceasefire between Iran and "Israel" went into effect today at 7:00 am al-Quds time, according to the announcement of US President Donald Trump announced on Monday night.

What aggression could not achieve, diplomacy cannot either

On the diplomatic front, Khatibzadeh reiterated that Iran has explicitly stated these attacks strike at the very core of diplomacy, adding, "Iran does not trust negotiations with those who have plotted against it" and emphasizing that "what couldn't be achieved through aggression won't be achieved through diplomacy either.

Deputy FM Khatibzadeh pointed out that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi must be held accountable, asserting that he "played an unfortunate role in paving the way" for the aggression.
